EZHaru Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 28, 2026
The short version: EZHaru records audio on your phone, turns it into a transcript, and writes a summary. We do not store your content. Your audio, transcripts and summaries are used to produce your notes and are not saved on our servers. The AI provider that does the transcribing and summarising may hold a copy for up to 30 days, only to detect abuse and fix faults — and is contractually barred from training on it. We never use your content to train models, and we never sell or share it for advertising.
Your recordings and notes are saved to your own cloud folder — your Microsoft OneDrive or your Google Drive. Those files belong to you, in your account, under your control.
To give you the included free allowance we keep two things and nothing more: a one-way code that stands for your account, and how much of the allowance is left. We cannot turn that code back into your name or email address.
What we keep, and for how long
| What | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your recordings and notes | Your own cloud folder, and your phone | Until you delete them |
| Audio sent for transcription | Passes through our service to the AI provider | **Not stored by us.** The provider may hold it **up to 30 days** for abuse detection and troubleshooting |
| Transcript sent for summarizing | Passes through our service to the AI provider | **Not stored by us.** The provider may hold it **up to 30 days** for abuse detection and troubleshooting |
| A one-way code for your account | Our server | Until you delete your account |
| How much allowance is left, and when it was used | Our server | Until you delete your account |
| The API keys you enter (if you bring your own) | Encrypted on your phone only | Until you remove them |
| Cloud sign-in tokens (OneDrive / Google Drive) | Encrypted on your phone only | Until you disconnect |
We do not keep: audio files, transcripts, summaries, titles, file names, your email address, or your name.
How your account code works
When you sign in with Google, we receive an account identifier from Google. We immediately run it through a one-way function with a secret only our server holds, and store only the result.
- We cannot recover your email address or name from it.
- It lets us count your allowance and recognise you on your next request. That is all it is for.
- If you contact us for support, you can share the short version of this code shown in the app so we can find your allowance. That is your choice — we cannot look you up any other way.
Where your content goes
Recording and saving never involve us. Audio is captured on your phone and uploaded to your own cloud folder. That works whether or not you are signed in to us.
Transcription and summarizing use an AI provider. There are two ways this happens, and you choose:
- Included allowance (default). Your audio and transcript pass through our service on the way to the AI provider, and the result comes back to your phone. We do not keep any of it. Our providers are contractually barred from using it to train their models.
- Your own API key. Your phone talks to the provider directly under your own agreement with them. Nothing passes through us.
Speaker labels always use your own AssemblyAI key. Read their terms before you enable it — on their free plan your audio may be used to improve their models, and turning that off requires a paid plan with them.
What we do not do
- We do not keep your audio, transcripts, or summaries.
- We do not use your content to train models, and our providers are contractually barred from doing so.
- We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or crash reports.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone other than the AI provider needed to produce your transcript or summary.
- We do not store your name, email address, or password.
Third-party services
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive | Your recordings and notes | Your own storage — you connect it, you own the files |
| AI provider (transcription and summaries) | Audio and transcript, for the length of the request | To produce your transcript and summary |
| Google Sign-In | Confirms it is you | So the included allowance is yours and not someone else’s |
| AssemblyAI (optional, your key) | Audio | Speaker labels |
| Microsoft OneNote (optional) | Your notes | If you turn on mirroring |
When you connect a service with your own key, your data is handled under that service’s agreement with you.
Google user data and Limited Use
EZHaru’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Two Google features are involved: Google Sign-In, which confirms it is you, and Google Drive, if you choose it as your cloud folder.
- Google user data is used only to provide the features you asked for — recognising your account for the included allowance, and uploading your recordings and notes to your own Google Drive.
- We do not use Google user data for advertising of any kind.
- We do not allow humans to read your Google user data, except where you explicitly ask us to for support, where it is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, or where the law requires it.
- We do not sell, rent, or transfer Google user data to anyone.
- We request the narrowest Drive scope that works: drive.file, which can only see and manage the files EZHaru itself creates. The rest of your Drive is never accessible to the app.
- Your Drive files do not pass through our service — they travel from your phone to your own Drive, and we hold no copy. From Google Sign-In we keep only the one-way code described above.
Deleting your data
On your phone and in your own cloud. Delete a recording in the app and choose whether the cloud copy goes too. Disconnect your cloud account in Settings to revoke access immediately; you can also revoke Google access at any time from your Google Account permissions page. Uninstalling removes everything stored locally. Files already in your cloud folder stay yours to manage.
The account we hold for the included allowance. You can delete it two ways:
- In the app: Settings → your plan → Delete my account.
- Without installing the app: delete your account on this website.
Deleting removes your account code and your allowance balance from our server permanently.
What deletion cannot undo, stated plainly:
- It is permanent. Because the code is one-way, we cannot restore it.
- Any unused free allowance is gone. Signing in again starts a new account with no balance.
- We keep a minimal record that an account with that code was deleted — the code and the date, nothing else. This exists so that deleting and signing in again does not hand out the free allowance repeatedly. It contains no content and cannot be turned back into your identity.
If you contact us
If you email us — for support, or to ask about your allowance — we will have your email address and whatever you choose to write. That is ordinary correspondence, kept in our mailbox, and it is separate from the app. Please do not paste recordings or transcripts into support email; we do not need them.
Recording other people
You are responsible for following the recording-consent laws where you are and the policies of your school or workplace. Laws differ by state and country, and some require everyone’s consent.
Children
EZHaru is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles your data, we update this page and the app’s Data safety information in the same release. The effective date above tells you when this version took effect.
